CSU: Campus Community Bicycle Advisory Committee (“CBAC”)


Description, Our History:
Established in 2008, the CSU Campus Community Bicycle Advisory Committee
(“CBAC”) offers support and guidance to enhance the bicycle experience for the CSU
campus community as well as technical and planning assistance to CSU facilities and
safety services. The Board is comprised of bicycle enthusiasts, police services, City
transportation personnel, CSU faculty and staff along with CSU students.

Mission Statement:
The CSU Campus Bicycle Advisory Committee’s mission is to promote a safe and
enjoyable bicycle experience through awareness, planning and education. We encourage
the environmental benefits of bicycles as affordable green-transportation for our campus
community.

Our Purpose:
1. To promote a safe campus bicycle experience
2. To encourage bicycling as a viable alternative transportation mode
3. To educate our campus community respecting all modes of transportation
4. To develop a culture of bicycling enthusiasts for health, lifestyle and to
distinguish our university from all others

Guidelines:
CBAC members will focus on creating a positive environment to ensure productivity.
The Chairpersons authority includes the responsibility to keep members engaged in
beneficial conversation avoiding unproductive or excessive negative discussion.
Members acknowledge that they serve at their own discretion, agree to attend a
majority of CBAC meetings and will notify the Chair if they cannot make a scheduled
meeting.  CBAC will encourage openness to new and different ideas from members
while maintaining a solutions-based, problem-solving attitude.

Officers:
CBAC officers shall consist of a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson, elected to fill a (2)
two-year term. To be eligible to serve, the Chair and Vice Chairperson must have
attended 4 prior regularly scheduled CBAC meetings and must be affiliated with CSU,
(such as a CSU student, faculty, staff or CSU employee).
Members: Members shall include any person in attendance at CBAC meetings.
Elections: Elections shall occur during the fall semester every two years or as soon after
a position is vacated. Members may serve for consecutive terms. Officers shall be
elected from candidates nominated by a member. The candidate receiving the most votes
shall be elected.

Voting:
Members in attendance shall each have one vote. To be eligible to vote, a
member must have attended at least two prior, regularly scheduled CBAC meetings.
Meeting notice for election must be sent to all active members by electronic means at
least 7 days in advance.

The Chairperson: The Chairperson shall be responsible for the agenda for all meetings.
The Chairperson shall schedule, conduct and supervise CBAC meetings.

The Vice Chairperson: The Vice Chairperson shall be responsible to discharge the
duties of the Chairperson in his or her absence.

Meetings: Members shall meet at least four times per year. Notice of any meeting shall
be sent to each known member at least seven (7) days in advance of a meeting.

Quorum: The act of a majority of the members in attendance, but not less than 5
members shall constitute a quorum for elections and CBAC decisions.
